Our Town History:
Welcome to small town America. We are centrally located in the heart of Michigan just east of Lansing. Fowlerville is located in Livingston County’s western border in Handy Township, easily accessed off of I-96, which runs a mile to the south.
First Settled by Ralph Fowler in 1836, followed by Cedar shortly after. As the community grew so did the sights of the founder. Amos Adams plat the village in 1849 then in 1953 it was renamed Fowlerville and developed into a village by 1871.
Fowlerville is one of the few areas in Michigan that seems to retain it’s feel for the turn of the century hospitality and architecture. Although we have new life coming into the community and we are building new homes and adding the sub-division concept to our town we are still the small town neighborhood here.
Whether stopping by Reggie’s Barber Ship to chat while waiting on a hair cut, or taking in a bit of lunch at our local café Olden Days Café you will find the people willing and warm to talk and pass around a bit of gossip;
During the summer months you find families walking down the streets while children run about playing. Not what you see in the urban city streets. You get a “how are you” , and a smile even a willing handshake if you happen to know your passer-by.
Local news paper (The Fowlerville News and Views) arrives every Monday like clock work to your door and guess what, it’s free!. You can’t find that anywhere anymore. Filled with information of school happenings and tid-bits of local information. Just enough to keep us aware of what is going on. If you want a national news or something out of the community you have to look away from Fowlerville.
Yes you can sit back relax and feel you are in the right place to raise your children, have good friends and grow old in. Do take the time to browse our pages and if you get a chance say hi to some of the residents on our forum. I am sure you will get our friendly Fowlerville Welcome
