The Dragons Ode!
Sitting snuggled in my bed, I am dragon in my heart, waiting for nightfall, waiting for the dark,

So my soul can be set free, so I can fly to join the other dragons, way up in the sky, flying through the clouds, darting all the stars, over the moon, thought the ages, back again without any traces.

Ignoring the people, who sit and stare, ignoring the ones that do not care. Our minds are free, our nostrils flared, our souls open, ready to share.

This one night, soaring high, taking flight into the dark. This on night, is all I have for dragons to rule, to swim out into the black dark pool.

This is why I wait, a dragon in my heart, waiting for the night, waiting for the dark. Once a year it comes, tonight is the night, I am sitting here waiting in the dark. © 2006 - J. Goodall
