Un-earthed - Why Funerals Cost So Much

mood: Debt Prison

Doesn’t $8,000 for the cheapest funeral in one of the poorest
states in the Union seem a little excessive?  That’s what I thought.  Just this
past week a distant cousin passed away quite unexpectedly.  He had stopped
making payments on his burial policy about six months earlier, so the immediate
family had to perform a lot of leg work in arranging the funeral proceedings.
For the casket, wake, burial, and housing the body for two days, would cost an
outrageous eight grand.  So I did a little research on why funerals are so
expensive.  I hope this information helps readers discover the many options
available in handling the loss of a loved one.  The problem with funerals is
that, like so many businesses, there are endless pages of laws protecting the
economic interests of established funeral homes.  Bear in mind that the laws
pertaining to funerals and caskets may vary from state to state.  For federal
laws that apply to all states click

Accident Involve School Bus

A total of four (4) Community School students suffered minor injuries when a pickup reared a school bus in Fowlerville. A 17 year old Fowlerville girl traveling northbound on Fowlerville Rd failed to stop her 2004 F-250 from plowing into the bus which was stopped at a designated stop.
An ambulance was dispatched to the scene where they had to take two students, one complaining from neck pain the other of back pain, to St Joseph Mercy Hospital in Howell. The 17 year old driver was taken by ambulance to U of M Medical Center in Ann Arbor. She was not in any life threatening danger. Two other students sought their own medical attention; their injuries are unknown at this time.
The driver of the F-250 could be cited for failure to stop for a school bus.

EX POSTAL CARRIER PLEDS GUILTY

Jill Mary Hull, a 31 year old former Howell letter carrier pleaded guilty in court Tuesday. She faces 6 months in prison, but could get off with probation for storing undelivered mail in a rented locker, and not delivering it.

Stating she was unable to deliver all of the mail, instead of asking for help, she decided to put it in a storage unit. Fowlerville Mini Storage found almost 10,000 items including 236 parcels back in September, when they were preparing to auction off the contents of the unit, after Hull failed to pay rental fees. The storage unit was rented by Hull in January 2006.

The US Postal Service guarantees that the mail; all 10,000 pieces of it will be delivered to its intended parties.

Moral of the story here; Don't aways believe that old saying the mail must go on. It can go in and in and in a local storage container if you are not careful.
